How to Choose a Womans Suit

If you’ve never owned a suit, or you’ve never owned a suit that fit well, you might learn some good tips here on selecting suits.

If you are shopping online for suits it is best to know your measurements. Measurements can easily be obtained if you have a tape measure. Write down your measurements and then look them up online on sizing charts to see what size you are. If you have a suit you should look at the tag to get your suit measurement.

If you are shopping in a store you should pick a variety of different sizes (within your size range) and suit styles and brands. Different brands may fit differently even though the size is the same. Ladies suits can be really tricky. If the suit jacket fits fine and looks good the skirt may not, and vice versa. Keep in mind, you can always tailor the suit yourself – if you are so skilled, or take it to a tailor. Body proportions play a big role in which styles look good and which don’t. Small chested women may want to opt for suit jackets with more buttons than large chested women. Some people just go with what makes them happy even if it doesn’t suit them. The decision is totally up to the individual.

When picking a suit you should note (if you are concerned about style conventions) that darker colors should be reserved for the cooler months and lighter colors should be reserved for warmer months.
